Cosmetic Researcher at me:vidual

Participation in a voluntary research program with a loaner device
No employment · no compensation · no influencer program

What is it about?

The me:vidual Research Collective is an open, time-limited research program in applied cosmetic science.
Together with scientifically curious participants, we explore how cosmetic formulations are created in a DIY context, how they can be produced reproducibly, and which process parameters matter.
The focus is not the product, but understanding processes.

Why we do this

Cosmetic knowledge today is often:
  • fragmented
  • brand-dependent
  • non-transparent
We believe cosmetic science should be open, traceable, and documentable.
The Research Collective is our attempt to create an open knowledge space—between study, practice, and application.

Your role: Cosmetic Researcher

As a Cosmetic Researcher at me:vidual, you take part in a voluntary research collaboration.
You work independently on self-chosen questions, e.g.:
  • formulation processes
  • textures & stability
  • active ingredient combinations
  • reproducibility
  • temperature effects
You decide:
  • what you work on
  • how deep you go
  • how you document it

What we provide

Research loan device
Selected participants receive a Synthor—a professional mixing and process device—on loan for the duration of the program.
The Synthor is used exclusively as a research and documentation tool.
Additionally:
  • structured research guides
  • documentation templates
  • exchange with other researchers
  • access to the Research Collective

What we expect (clear & fair)

Participation requires active contribution in line with the research purpose. This means:
  • conducting your own investigations
  • objective documentation of your work
  • regular input (e.g., text, photo, or video)
Important:
  • no pressure to “succeed”
  • no obligation to do social media
  • no advertising or sales requirements
If you realize that active participation is not feasible in terms of time or content, the device can be returned at any time.

Documentation & content

You can document your work as:
  • text
  • images
  • video
If you voluntarily submit content to us, we may use it for:
  • documentation
  • research
  • factual public communication
  • presentations
There is no obligation to create or publish content.

Loan model & security

The Synthor is loaned for a limited time. The device remains the property of me:vidual.
To secure the loan, a credit card pre-authorization in the amount of the device value is required before shipping.
No charge is made as long as the device is returned on time.
The authorization serves exclusively to secure the obligation to return the device.
If the device is not returned, the amount may be charged as replacement value.
Once the replacement value is charged, the device becomes the participant’s property.
All details are transparently governed by the terms and conditions of participation.

Inactivity & device recall

If active participation ceases for a defined period, the purpose of the loan is considered unmet. In this case, we reserve the right to:
  • request return of the device
  • set a reasonable deadline
  • provide a return shipping label
This program thrives on activity—not on possession.

Recognition: Cosmetic Research Fellow (me:vidual)

Participants who contribute actively and with documented work over a longer period may receive the internal recognition title:
Cosmetic Research Fellow (me:vidual)
This title is:
  • not a training program
  • not an academic degree
  • not a state-recognized qualification
It serves solely as recognition for participation in this research program and may be used as a reference in professional contexts.
